   【Abstract】 With the improvement of the quality of people's life and changes of lifestylethe incidence of hyperuricemia increases gradually. The relationship between hyperuricemia and hypertensiondiabeteschronic kidney disease and cardiovascular diseases has become more and more profound. As studies go onmore evidence confirms that hyperuricemia may be an independent risk factor for these chronic diseases. Besidesstudies about whether urate-lowering therapy can reduce the risk of these chronic diseases are under way. We summarized some recent studies on the associations of hyperuricemia and the treatment of it with chronic diseasein order to raise the clinical attention to uric acid levelsat the same time provide a basis for the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases.

   【Abstract】 Diabetes mellitusDM is a public health problem that threatens the health of all mankind.It not only affects the health of patients with a shortened lifebut also increases the economic burden on individuals and countries.Over the past 30 yearsthe prevalence of diabetes in China has increased rapidly while patients tend to be younger.At presentmore than 90% of diabetic patients suffered from type 2 diabetes.Relevant studies have shown that meal replacement diet can effectively improve the blood glucose and blood lipid level of overweight or obese patients with type 2 diabetesand reduce patients' body mass and waistline.Meanwhilemeal replacement diet is conducive to the HbA1c and improves patient compliance and satisfactionwhich achieves the intervention and treatment of DM in many ways.But the mechanism of meal replacement diet in treatment of type 2 diabetes is not yet entirely clearand there are relatively few studies at home and abroad on this aspect.Therefore this paper summarizes the current studies to review the progress of this kind of study.

   【Abstract】 Health literacy represents the cognitive and social skills which determine the motivation and ability of individuals to accessunderstand and use informationin order to promote and maintain good health.More and more researchers have paid attention to health literacy in recent years.Although the researches about it involve in a variety of chronic diseasesthere are only a few studies focusing on health literacy in patients with rheumatic diseases at home and abroad.We did a literature review of the studies in which recent developments in health literacy of patients with rheumatic diseases were reportedincluding the assessment tools for health literacycurrent situation and associated factors for health literacythe relationship between health literacy and health outcomesthe readability and applicability of health education materialsand the interventions for health literacywith a view to providing some references for the development of similar studies and exploration of research directions in future in China.

   【Abstract】 Objective To detect the serum retinol binding protein 4RBP4 and cystatin CCys-C levels in patients with diabetic retinopathyDR),and examine their correlations with the development of DR.Methods A total of 150 outpatients and inpatients with type 2 diabetes mellitusT2DM that were admitted to the Department of Endocrinology and Department of Ophthalmologythe People's Hospital of Haian County Affiliated to Nantong University between January 2015 and June 2016 were enrolled and grouped. Fifty diabetic patients without DR were assigned to the non-DMNDM group50 diabetic patients with nonproliferative DRNPDR were assigned to the NPDR group50 diabetic patients with proliferative DRPDR were assigned to the PDR groupand 50 normal healthy individuals served as controls. The serum levels of fasting blood glucoseFPG),triglyceridesTG),total cholesterolTC),low-density lipoprotein cholesterolLDL-C),high-density lipoprotein cholesterolHDL-C),2-hour postprandial blood glucose2 hPG),glycosylated hemoglobinHbA1c),RBP4and Cys-C were measured.Results There were significant differences in serum FPGTGTCLDL-CHDL-C2 hPGHbA1cRBP4and Cys-C levels among the four groupsP<0.05. Higher levels of FPGTGTC2 hPGHbA1cRBP4and Cys-Cand a lower HDL-C concentrationwere detectedin the NPDR group than in the NDM groupin additionthe serum levels of FPGTC2 hPGHbA1cRBP4 and Cys-C were higher in the PDR group than in the NPDR groupP<0.05.Multivariate Logistic regression analyses revealed that the course of the diseaseOR=3.12895%CI1.4587.641)〕,HbA1c OR=6.93395%CI1.60429.962)〕,RBP4OR=2.74695%CI1.0437.230)〕,and Cys-COR=3.06295%CI1.0989.389)〕 were risk factors for developing DRP<0.05.Conclusion Elevated serum RBP4 and Cys-C levels are strongly associated with the development of DR.
